Adoptee-centered therapy

I support adoptees navigating the grief and loss of adoption while healing the attachment rupture at the root of our shared primal wound.

Whether you’re just beginning to unravel what it means to ‘come out of the fog’, or you’ve been doing your own work for some time and are seeking specialized support to integrate and deepen your own evolution, this is a place for you.

About Alexis

Hi, I’m Alexis

I’m a licensed psychotherapist, a transracial adoptee, and an adoptee-centered voice passionate about recognizing the grief and loss inherent in adoption. My work prioritizes the intersectional existence that we as transracial adoptees endure. Acknowledging the trauma of early maternal separation, attachment, and identity, recognizing the profound losses adoptees are often expected to forget rather than to feel, name, and say out loud.

I am a domestic, infant, transracial adoptee, and a mixed Black woman. I was raised by two White parents in predominantly White spaces of the Pacific Northwest, where I was almost always the only Black or brown person in every room.

We can acknowledge the privilege that can come with being an adopted person, while also acknowledging the pain. We can feel grateful for what we’ve gained through adoption, while also grieving what we’ve lost.

Adoptee-centered therapy holds space for the both/and of adoption.
